General Guidelines

TRASH GUIDELINES

  • By law, only non-hazardous household solid waste can be collected. Liquid waste products cannot be collected in a liquid state.
  • Non-hazardous liquids can be mixed with an absorbent such as Kitty Litter, but MUST be completely dry & with the lid off the container to show the driver that it is dried out.
  • BASIC SERVICE: Once weekly trash service at the backdoor is paid by the City of Frontenac.
  • ALTERNATE SERVICE: the Residents of Frontenac pay for optional twice-weekly trash collection at the backdoor.
  • Please contact the Veolia Waste Customer Service Center at (314) 567-1800 to set up alternate services.
  • Trash with yardwaste mixed in cannot be collected.
  • Items over four feet (4') high or long must be broken down or cut to four feet (4') or less.
  • Loose materials must be containerized or bundled.
  • Containers shall have a capacity of no less than 20 gallons nor more than 32 gallons, nor should they weigh more than 50 pounds.
  • Trash is collected at the backdoor.
  • Rubbish (waste that rots and stinks) should be bagged AND the bag(s) should be placed in trash cans or trash carts. Veolia Waste will NOT be responsible for any rubbish spread about when animals or birds rip any such bag(s) open.
  • Rubbish (waste that does not rot and stink) CAN be placed in plastic bags and set out for collection without having to be in a trash can or trash cart. Please do NOT overload bags so that they can rip open when picked up.
  • Trash limits will not exceed the commonly produced quantity of a regular household family.
  • Bulky Trash includes any type of solid waste that cannot be placed into a 32-gallon trash can. Bulky Trash does NOT include major appliances, automobile parts or components, construction debris or any other such items. Construction debris will not be picked up. These items are to be serviced on the 2nd pick up day if signed up for twice a week service or on the trash day if signed up for once a week service. All boxes need to be broken down and bundled. Bulky Trash will be picked up once per week. (4) items per week. Bulky Trash is to be placed at the curb.
  • Major Appliances (White Goods) are to be scheduled for collection through Veolia Waste Customer Service (314) 567-1800. There is no charge for this service.
  • Tires, Car Batteries, Paint-unless dried, Car Parts, Compost and hazardous chemicals will not be picked up by Veolia Waste. For hazardous Waste please call (314) 286-9200.
  • No Construction Material of any kind.

YARDWASTE GUIDELINES

  • Yardwaste is a curbside service.
  • Yardwaste with trash mixed in cannot be collected.
  • Loose yardwaste must be bagged in standard 30-gallon PAPER yardwaste bags or placed in designated 32-gallon or smaller yardwaste cans.
  • YARDWASTE IN PLASTIC BAGS WILL NOT BE COLLECTED.
  • Tree limbs and branches less than six inches (6") in diameter must be tied (with TWINE - NO WIRE) in bundles no bigger than four feet (4') long by twenty-four inches (24") in diameter; however, no bundle is to weigh more than fifty (50) pounds. Limbs and branches six inches (6") or more in diameter are considered Bulky Trash.
  • Christmas trees will be collected at no additional charge throughout the month of January. The tree must be free of all decorations including tinsel, garland, ornaments and lights. The tree must also be cut shorter than four feet (4') in length.

RECYCLE GUIDELINES

  • Recycling is collected at the backdoor.
  • Once Weekly Service: A recycle bin is provided by Veolia Waste. Items accepted for Recycle are as followed:
Glass jars and bottles, aluminum and Steel/bi-metal beverage cans. Plastic (PET#1) soda bottles, Plastic (HDPE#2) milk and water jugs, and newspaper (including inserts).
  • ALL current collection schedules and days will be as follows. In order to insure collection of your trash, yardwaste, and recycling, please put them out for collection at the curbside BY 8:00 AM on your scheduled collection day.

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

There will be no collections on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day. The change in service days will be for that day on which the holiday falls - ALL days following a holiday will ROLL.

For Example:

If the holiday is on a Monday:

Monday goes on Tuesday

Tuesday goes on Wednesday

Wednesday goes on Thursday

Thursday goes on Friday

Friday goes on Saturday

CARTS: 95-gallon household trash carts are available for nominal charge, billed quarterly by Veolia Waster.

BILLING: The City pays for trash, yardwaste, and recycle services. All billing for carts and alternate services is done on a quarterly basis in advance. All invoices are to be paid directly to Veolia Waste.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: The Veolia Waste Customer Service Department is open to receive telephone calls from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday of each week, excluding holidays. You may also contact Veolia Customer Service by e-mailing them at custsvce.stlouis@veoliaes.com.
