2022 COMPREHENSIVE LAND USE PLAN UPDATE

The City’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan (“Comp Plan”) was originally drafted in 2006 and last reviewed in 2013.  The Comp Plan is one of the guiding documents of Frontenac’s Planning and Zoning Commission, and it establishes a long-range 10-year vision for community and economic development and future land uses, given the potential changes in areas such as the City’s commercial districts.  It is important that the community be engaged in the Plan’s development. This helps ensure that the Plan represents Frontenac’s values and vision, and stays current and relevant so that land-use decisions represent the community’s best interests.

The City has hired St. Louis-based H3 Studio to assist in leading the year-long process of meeting with community stakeholders and preparing the update to the Plan in 2022. The City conducted an extensive review of consultants to assist with the comp plan update. Among other things, H3 Studio stands out with a depth of experience in developing comprehensive plans for St. Louis-area municipalities, including recent the comprehensive plan updates in Creve Coeur and Ladue.   

Once again, it is important that the community be engaged in the development of the updated Comp Plan.  Please stay tuned to the City’s weekly e-news, website, and other communications to learn about opportunities to participate, provide feedback, and stay informed.  Below is a list of links to documents and resources related to the 2022 Comp Plan update such as H3 Studio’s Environmental Scan, which provides a review of Frontenac’s existing Comp Plan and the existing conditions and land-use patterns, housing, landscape, open spaces, connectivity, and services within in the community.
