Update for the Week of 12/02/2024 – 12/06/2024
The contractor (PCX Construction) is starting to install piping on Geyer Downs on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024. Additionally, two (2) pipes were received today in preparation for this work.
As we receive updates on the project, we will continually add to this page.
The City of Frontenac has worked closely with East-West Gateway Council of Governments and Missouri Department of Highways to obtain federal funding to assist in the financial support of the Geyer Road Project for public safety and routes to schools.
MoDOT / Federal funding has advised “Concurrence” with the low bidder, PCX Construction and qualifications and compliance with federal regulations for the project due to the federal funding. This being said, they have a few required forms for the project to complete for the pre-construction meeting with the City and the Lochmueller Group, which will be scheduled soon. This project will push through winter as weather allows. Looking for a spring/early summer completion date.
**As a reminder when waiting to maneuver through a one-lane closed flagmen-controlled section of roadway, DO NOT BLOCK INTERSECTIONS.** This will assist in keeping traffic moving as much as possible.
This project consists of pedestrian safety with installation of sidewalk along with stormwater improvements with street repaving.
The sidewalk will tie into the Clayton Road Sidewalk just west of the Clayton/Spoede Intersection on the South side of Clayton Road.
Continuing westbound to Geyer, crossing Geyer with a new signalized pedestrian signal, then turning south on the west side of Geyer.
The sidewalk will continue south at Hermitage Hill Road.
A special thanks goes out to all the property owners along the route for working closely with the City of Frontenac on the project.
Currently, Missouri America Water, Spire Energy, and Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) have completed their projects prior to the start of this project.
Survey crews will be laying out the project as well as tree and brush removals, per agreements to begin.
The official start date for construction is Monday, December 2.
